From a Pile of Parts

The following is shared by a fellow Ottaway owner, James Pekarek who owns and operates the Northview & Frisco Railroad.  The information is adapted from a PowerPoint presentation he gave at the Ottaway Steam Reunion.

The locomotive has been identified as Serial No. 1014.

This is how the locomotive looked while in Winston-Salem North Carolina circa 1962 or 1963.

The locomotive was modified by Cooper into a 4-4-2 Atlantic type.  It is believed J.C. Carter was the owner.  The image was taken at the Parkway Plaza Shopping Center.

This image below was taken from the Iron Men Album, May-June 1966.

He thought that it was a one-of-a-kind factory built engine, using the same big boiler as the Ottaway 4-6-0.

Same Ventilator on the cab roof.
Same Acorn Nut decorations on all three domes.

Same “Derailment Guards” on tender trucks.
